Cynthia Werner serves as pastor at Messiah Lutheran Church in Cocoa, Florida. Prior careers include twenty-two years with the Brevard School system as teacher and then coordinator of math, science and technology; and several years with the Brevard Zoo as Education Registrar. She has both a Bachelor and a Master's degree in education, as well as a Master of Divinity and several courses towards a doctorate. Cynthia has always been a 'tomboy' preferring to get 'down and dirty' to playing with dolls. This preference manifested itself in gardening and sharing that love of dirt with others. During her children's formative years she maintained backyard vegetable, rose and herb gardens, sharing that interest and fun with her children. Nothing makes her happier than to experience the satisfaction of stretching her mind, body, and soothing her spirit outside. And that's what Back to Barefoot is all about.
